Overview

Support the day-to-day operations and administrative management of the Program and project field activities, working closely with Program technical managers and COMU, under the supervision of Senior Operations Specialist.
Follow up Medicines Management Supervisors’ SPARS visits with Health Facilities,
Travel regionally to support trainings and field programmatic events,
Collaborate with the technical managers and COMU for coordination of field travels and other logistical support.

 Specific Responsibilities

1. Planning – support the projects in the logistical planning of workshops, meetings and trainings

• Support the projects in the preparation of workshop budgets to ensure adequate and accurate information is catered for
• Assist in preparation of invitations to participants in accordance with the MSH procedures, with particular attention to ensure adherence to policies on allowances
• Conduct the Anti-Terrorism Clearance Verification Process for events’ participants, venues and related service providers
• Coordinate the selection of venues with all the necessary logistical support including Public Address System, venue arrangement, projectors, screens, etc.
• Ensure the availability of materials, including stationery, printed materials, branded materials, name tags, all arranged and packaged in an appropriate manner
• To undertake any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

2. Venue Management – Support the venue activities, including:

• Provide assistance to ensure participants are registered in time
• Coordinate the processing of mobile money payment to participants in a timely manner
• Coordinate with the hotels regarding the changes in participants’ numbers and to ensure services are as per schedule
• Coordinate the customer satisfaction assessment surveys.

3. Equipment – Ensure that all training equipment is well maintained and returned to safe custody after each training session together with, unused materials and branding materials.

No past experience is required, but position holder should:
• Have interest to work with an international health development Organization.
• Preferably hold a degree in Administration or in – training for a degree in administration
• Familiarity with event planning.
• Ability to work independently and to multi-task.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (particularly Word and Excel)
• Interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interact professionally.
• Should be willing to uphold MSH code of business ethics.

Job Summary: The Technical Coordinator- SPARS Efficiency and Effectiveness provides support to Uganda Health Supply Chain (UHSC) project regional teams and, Medicines Management Supervisors (MMS) in monitoring efficiency and effectiveness of implementation of Supervision Performance Assessment and Recognition Strategy (SPARS) and other medicines management improvement interventions in 84 directly supported UHSC districts. S/he works closely with UHSC district team to ensure traceability of all UHSC interventions at facility and district level through 100% verification of MMS activities before payment processing and building MMS capacity to effectively document capacity building support at facility level.
 Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Technical Advisor, develop appropriate plan to monitor efficiency and effectiveness of UHSC district interventions and disseminate findings regularly.
  • Work in close conjunction with the Senior Technical Advisor, ensure 100% verification of the SPARS tools submitted in the Pharmaceutical Information Portal (PIP), and with justification, advise district regional teams on supervisions which need SPARS supervision audits.

Concerning Protection, MHPSS and Inclusion, Handicap International`s strategy is developed around the following axes:

  • Enhancement of the welcoming and the identification of people with special needs and protection at-risk individuals, by providing Psychosocial First Aid;

Job Summary: The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support / Protection Supervisor will primarily ensure the implementation and development of a qualitative, inclusive protection/MHPSS strategy of intervention, integrated with the response to the basic needs of HI beneficiaries provided by HI and other actors. To do so, He/she will manage a team of 6 persons. The main responsibilities linked to the position are:

About Project:
Uganda Heart Institute Jobs: The Uganda Heart Institute with its development partner: The Children’s National Medical Center, Washington DC, United States of America plans to conduct a clinical trial ‘Determining the Impact of Penicillin on Latent Rheumatic Heart Disease: A Randomized Control Trial.’ The study site will be based in Gulu and four (4) surrounding districts
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To study protocol and procedures including gaining expertise in rheumatic heart disease knowledge.
  • Participates in gaining informed consent.
  • With support from CRC distributes study medications and maintains drug accountability logs.
  • With support from CRC, organizes study files, regulatory binders, and all other study-specific source documentation.
  • With support from CRC serves as a liaison officer between the study and community, including community engagement, engagement with local health/educational authorities, and VHT’s.
  • Maintains effective and ongoing communication with CRC, including weekly project update and coordination meetings.
  • Ensures adequate supply and proper storage of study medication including tracking of expiration dates.
  • Attends Saturday support groups (1/2 day) two out of every 3 Saturdays to administer IM penicillin to study participants and to oversee community nurses assisting with drug administration.
  • Ensures best practices for penicillin administrations
  • Leads initial and ongoing training of community nurse volunteers in best-practices for IM penicillin delivery
  • Obtains and maintains basic and advanced life support training in the case of an allergy or other emergency.
  • Completes interval health assessments at scheduled support group visits through tablet-based data entry.
  • Travels with caseworker to the homes of children who miss support group and PCN injection for home delivery.
  • Performs any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidates should preferably hold University Degrees in Nursing from recognized institutions
  • One year of clinical care, prior research experience is an asset.
  • High level of personal motivation and excellent skills in team management, team building, community outreach, and communication.
  • Excellent computer skills

The job holder is responsible for providing oversight for the EDUCATION Consortium MEAL function including, design and implementation of basic MEAL tools to adequately plan, monitor, and report in an accurate and timely manner on program performance. In collaboration with the Regional MEAL Manager, Head of MEAL, Partners' MEAL staff and the Programme teams, the job holder ensures that the Programme undertakes routine Quality Improvement, Result Monitoring & Data Quality assessment, has information briefs, regular sharing of Programme updates with stakeholders, a mechanism for collecting, tracking and responding to feedback and complaints from Programme stakeholders. The job holder ensures that quality bench marks are used during implementation of Programme activities and puts in place a tailor made documentation strategy for impact stories, reports, and best practices and makes sure that lessons learnt feed into EDUCATION Programme planning processes. The staff is responsible for ensuring that Programme data on outputs and outcome progress is collected, analysed and synthesised accurately and in a timely manner; supports training of Programme team and partners in quality data collection and management.

Qualification and Experience;Essential

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Economics or Development Studies with Post Graduate training in M&E or Project planning and Management.

  • Minimum of three years working experience in monitoring and evaluation working experience

  • Knowledge and use of various survey methods for monitoring of different programs.

  • Additional training and experience in biostatistics or monitoring and evaluation and MIS of an added advantage.

Desirable

  • Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities and ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas

  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
